Introduction
Set up in 1995 by Françoise FORETTE, M.D, Professor of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the University Paris V, under the auspices of the Fondation Nationale de Gerontologie, the International Longevity Center-France is a not-for-profit association.
The ILC-France is part of the ILC International Partnership, a multi-national education and research consortium, committed to a positive and productive approach to longevity and population ageing.
The first International Longevity Centre was established in the U.S.A. in 1990 by Robert N. Butler M.D., Professor of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York) and first director of the National Institute on Ageing.
The others ILCs are located in Japan, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic. They work both independently and collaboratively with the ILC-France.
